Matira Beach is situated on the southern end of Bora. It is surreal how on calm days the water acts as a mirror reflecting the blue sky and scattered white clouds gently floating by. The white coral sand is a beautiful backdrop to clear water with a light blue hue set against slightly darker blue horizon. The water has plenty of small fish and an occasional harmless ray can be seen gliding by off of the shore. The water temperature averages 79°F (26°C) in the winter and 84°F (29°C) in the summer. The beach is well suited for all ages. Young and old alike enjoy the very calm water. The beach has easy access to the public with somewhat limited parking. There is a public park with an awning for group festivities. There are a few hotels with bungalows on the beach and a casual beach restaurant with excellent typical casual fare.
