1. Gavdos west beach December 19, 2010 11:33

Potamos (i.e. River) is located on the northwestern shore of Gavdos, 7km northwest of the harbor in Karave.

It's a great beach with reddish sand and amazing water. Contrary to what its name implies, Potamos is a dry area, with dunes and cedars.

It is completely secluded and accessible mainly by boat. Next to the beach, there are steep cliffs and there is no easy path to head down to the beach. Most people that make the walk to Potamos beach end up just seeing the beach from above and cannot find a safe way down, allthough some people do succeed in it
